Petrol in Pakistan costs Rs377.91 per litre from Saturday 31 October to Monday 2 November 2026, unchanged from the last revision, while high-speed diesel has gone up by Rs2.29 to Rs402.96 per litre [1][2]. These prices were set in an OGRA notification and apply from midnight on 31 October until midnight on 2 November [3]. Pakistan no longer waits for a fortnightly revision on the 1st and 16th of the month: prices are now worked out daily by OGRA and can change every few days, so check the latest rate before a long drive [1][5].
Petrol and diesel prices from 31 October to 2 November 2026
| Fuel | Price per litre | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Petrol (super) | Rs377.91 | No change [1] |
| High-speed diesel (HSD) | Rs402.96 | +Rs2.29 [1][2] |
This is the second revision in a row in which petrol stayed the same [1]. Before that, on 29 October, the government raised petrol by Rs1.85 to Rs377.91 and diesel by Rs1.75 to Rs399.82 [4].
Dawn reports that the government still collects about Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and about Rs100 per litre on diesel [1].
Is there a new petrol price on 1 November?
Many people still search for "petrol price 1 November" because Pakistan used to announce new prices twice a month. That system has changed. The rate in force on 1 November 2026 is the one notified for 31 October to 2 November, so petrol on 1 November is Rs377.91 per litre [1][3]. The next change is expected after 2 November, when the current notification ends [2].
Why fuel prices now change every few days
On 17 July 2026, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) would set petroleum prices on a daily basis, in line with international market trends [5][1]. Before that, prices had been revised weekly since early March [1].
Here is how the system works, according to the minister and OGRA's own published price sheets:
- A seven-day average. The daily price is based on the average international (Platts) price over seven working days, so a sudden jump or fall abroad reaches Pakistan gradually [5][2].
- Exchange rate. OGRA converts the dollar cost using a seven-day average of the State Bank's exchange rate [7].
- Margins and levies on top. OGRA's petrol sheet for 15 October shows the cost build-up, including freight margins, oil company and dealer margins, an Rs80 petroleum levy and an Rs5 climate support levy [7].
- Published online. OGRA posts its price publications on its website, in English and Urdu [6].
Fuel prices have come down a long way from this year's peak. Dawn reports that petrol hit Rs458.41 per litre on 3 April, after starting to climb from Rs266 in early March when the Middle East conflict pushed up oil prices [1].
How to check today's petrol price
- Open the OGRA Price Publications page and look for the newest notification date [6].
- Check that the notification covers today's date. The current one runs from 31 October to 2 November [3].
- Remember that the pump price can include a small amount for transporting fuel to that station, which OGRA's sheet lists separately as "secondary freight" [7].
Simple ways to spend less on fuel this winter
You cannot control the price per litre, but you can control how many litres you burn:
- Check tyre pressure once a week. Under-inflated tyres make the engine work harder.
- Drive smoothly. Hard acceleration and late braking in Lahore traffic waste fuel.
- Don't idle for long. If you are parked and waiting, switch the engine off when it is safe to do so.
- Take extra weight out of the boot. Carry what you need for the trip, not everything you own.
- Plan one longer trip instead of many short ones. A cold engine uses more fuel on short runs.
- Keep up with servicing. An overdue air filter or oil change can hurt fuel economy.
- Use the motorway at a steady speed rather than stop-start driving on busy roads, where possible.
