From 4 November 2026, petrol costs Rs 369.06 a litre and high-speed diesel Rs 391.52 a litre, down Rs 5.45 and Rs 3.68, while a car pays Rs 1,430 in toll for the full Lahore–Islamabad M-2 run [1][2][4]. Fog season has also started: the Motorway Police closed the M-3 between Faizpur and Jaranwala on the morning of 3 November and advised people to travel between 10 am and 6 pm [5][6]. So a one-way motorway drive between Lahore and Islamabad now costs your fuel plus Rs 1,430 in toll, and the safest plan is a late-morning start after checking road status on helpline 130 [7].
Petrol and diesel prices from 4 November
OGRA's notification puts petrol (Motor Spirit) at Rs 369.06 and HSD at Rs 391.52 per litre, effective from midnight on Wednesday 4 November 2026 [1][2]. This is the second cut in a row; petrol was Rs 374.51 on 3 November and Rs 377.91 at the end of October [3].
Two points matter for drivers:
- Pump prices are slightly higher than the notified rate. The notified price excludes the depot-to-pump freight each company adds. For 3 November, oil companies filed Lahore pump prices of about Rs 375.93 to Rs 378.45 a litre, against a notified Rs 374.51 that day [2].
- The government says it will pass on international cuts. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said any fall in international prices will be passed on, and that under a revised mechanism refineries will bear Rs 15 billion over 30 days, allowing a reduction of Rs 14.71 a litre at the consumer end [1]. The same briefing announced LPG reforms: quota-based distribution is to end and local LPG will be auctioned in lots of five to 10 tonnes [1].
Prices can change again with the next notification, so check the rate on the day you travel.
M-2 toll: what a car pays
The NHA raised M-2 tolls by 7% from 5 July 2026. Cars, jeeps and taxis pay Rs 1,430 for the full run, and these rates stay in force until 23 April 2027 [4]. The M-2 is charged by distance, about Rs 3.98 per km for a car, so you pay for the kilometres between the interchange where you join and where you leave [8].
The extra 50% charge for vehicles without an M-Tag (or with too little balance) was suspended by the Islamabad High Court on 3 July 2026, so for now tag and cash pay the same base toll [4][8]. That is an interim order, so keeping a funded M-Tag is still the sensible choice, and the tag lane is usually quicker [8].
Fog closures: how to check before you leave
On 3 November, NHMP Central Region closed the M-3 from Faizpur to Jaranwala because of dense fog [5][6]. Spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed said the closure protects lives and property, and that 10 am to 6 pm is the relatively safer window for travel in fog season [5][6]. No reopening time was given when the stretch closed, so a closed section should be treated as shut until officials say otherwise [6].
Before any motorway trip this month:
- Call NHMP helpline 130 to confirm whether your route is open [7].
- Check NHMP's official X account (@NHMPofficial), which posts closure notices with the kilometre markers [5].
- Leave after 10 am if you can, and aim to arrive before 6 pm [5][6].
If you must drive in fog, Motorway Police advise keeping your speed low with a safe gap, staying in your lane, avoiding sudden braking and needless overtaking, using fog lights, checking headlights, tail lights and wipers, and stopping at a safe place if visibility drops sharply [5][6][7].
A simple way to budget the trip
Your total for a one-way Lahore–Islamabad motorway drive is roughly:
fuel (distance ÷ your car's km per litre × pump price) + Rs 1,430 toll
The M-2 is usually described as about 375 km [8]. Use your own car's real fuel average, not a brochure figure. For example, if your car actually does 12 km a litre, 375 km needs about 31 litres, which at a Lahore pump price near Rs 376 is about Rs 11,750 in fuel, plus the toll. That example is only arithmetic on your own figure; city driving at both ends, the AC and traffic will move it. Double it for a return trip, and add parking and food.
